Lawrence Riddle Unit #88 Auxiliary was organized
January 14, 1920 by Mrs. C. A. Carmack of Decatur,
Illinois who served as the first 19th District Director.
The Unit received their temporary Charter March 10,
1920 and their permanent Charter two years later,
dated September 11, 1922. Mrs. Lillian Riddle,
mother of Lawrence Riddle, for whom the Post was
named, served as its first President for two years.
The Unit had 32 members in 1920 and has grown to
our present 350 members. Unit 88 awards two (2)
$1000 scholarships a year, in the memory of Norma
Williams and Charter member Ruth Easton.
Many of the Unit members have served on District,
State and National Committees. The Unit has
received many awards and citations in recognition
of unselfish distinguished service and loyal
